Mini Cars race in a
Full-field Scratch Grid in Race 1 at each meeting, seeing all the cars
starting together, ranked off qualifying times from practice irrespective of
the four classes. In Race 2 the field
is separated into “Speed Groups” as opposed to the four distinct “Classes” of
Mini 7, Open Mini, Mini Miglia and Super Mini, with similarly paced car and
drivers being matched in groups irrespective of their class … in effect a
handicap race of sorts. Race 3 at each
meeting is than a Full-field Handicap race. |

Points within the
series are awarded equally within each of the four distinct classes, with
bonus points being awarded for fastest laps in each of the three races at
each race meeting, as well as for fastest lap in qualifying. In addition, for
each competitor there are double points on offer in the first race of the
meeting at that competitor’s furthest circuit. This is a very healthy
“carrot” to make sure competitors travel to race meetings, and really try to
finish well in the first race. For Team Sweeney
from At the conclusion
of the season, awards are presented for finishing position within each of the
four classes independently. In addition, the points structure allows a direct
comparison between the four classes, thereby determining the overall winner
of the Super Mini Challenge for the year. |
